Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral and Maxillofacial surgery encompasses the diagnosis, surgical and related treatment of the head and neck area. An Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon cares for patients with facial fractures and lacerations, is trained in the facial reconstruction of malformed jaw structures, manages patients with lesions of Oral and Maxillofacial area, treats jaw dysfunction, reconstructs areas of missing teeth with dental implants and perform surgical removal of teeth. Doctors Scully and Matheson are certified in anesthesia and administer general anesthesia and IV sedation within the office setting. Patients are monitored during and after the surgery. Surgery is also performed in the hospital setting.

Our surgical staff are experienced Oral and Maxillofacial surgical assistants who assist in the administration of general anesthesia and surgery. All staff is certified in X-ray and CPR.

What is the process involved in having Maxillofacial surgery done?

  • The first step: Setting up your initial appointment

Our offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 to 5 PM. We will schedule your appointment as promptly as possible. If you have pain or emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see that they had.

  • The second step: The initial appointment

Your initial appointment with our office consists of a consult visit, explaining your diagnosis and probable treatment. Consult and same-day surgery can be done sometimes, but normally, a second appointment will be scheduled to provide treatment on another day.

You’ll need to bring the following information to your consult:

  • A referring doctors slip
  • Any X-rays from your referring doctors
  • A list of medications you are currently taking
  • Medical or dental insurance information and forms
  • We also ask that you please inform our office of any medical condition that may be of concern of the time of your consult

REMEMBER: A parent or guardian must accompany All patients under 18 years of age at the time in the visit.

 

  • The third step: The day of your procedure

REMEMBER: You must be accompanied by someone who will drive you home and the driver may not leave the premises during your surgery.

We ask patients and visitors to please refrain from eating or drinking in the waiting room since surgery patients have been without food or drink for several hours prior to their visit.

  • Follow up: After the procedure

EMERGENCIES

One of our doctors is always on call for the office 24 hours a day. After office hours, you may contact the surgical assistant on call by dialing 1-888 906-8089 .

You'll dial in your number at the tone and they will be paged and return your call. The surgical assistance will assess your situation and contact the Dr. on call to further assist you needs.

  • Insurance considerations for surgery

    We are not a provider with any insurance company, however  we will be happy to file your insurance. You are welcome to meet with the financial co-ordinator to discuss the specific insurance coverage your policy will provide.

Professional services are rendered and charged to you, the patient and not the insurance company. Your insurance will not normally pay the total of all your charges; therefore, you are responsible for your account. .
